Top 10 ways to know your server doesn't have kids of his own

OK, all I really have is the number one way. Anyway, drum roll please...

And the Number 1 way to know that your server does not have kids of his own...

You order hot wings and he brings a third appetizer plate for your 10 month old.

Perfect for Napping

Too tired to play our usual 'games' while getting her diaper changed, B was not tired enough to fight me on the subject of a nap.

A different kind of "Blue" this Sunday

So sad to see the Colts lose in the dome today. We didn't play very well. And, I really think that the Chargers' need to win today outweighed our wanting to go undefeated. I have no doubt that we are the better team. And, as I am not a professional sports player, I don't think I'll ever really grasp how that difference in desire or desperation to win a game can make a team come out and beat another team that's actually better talent and skill- wise.
Oh well, at least we got the undefeated season monkey off our backs so that we can focus on the important task at hand...Super Bowl XL.

GO COLTS!

Buenos Dias

Good Morning. I just read an article in American Baby Magazine's December edition that said that sometime between 10 to 12 months B will 'begin to lose the ability to hear all possible sounds in any language.' This is because she is already specialized in her native tongue. As I read this I was feeling kind of guilty because, although I have spoken some Spanish to her, it has definitely not been enough to make a difference, just a few words here and there.
It is my hope that she will have a desire to learn Spanish as she gets older. I just don't feel comfortable enough with my own knowledge of the language to have her learn from me. Hopefully, the little groundwork that I've already laid will help encourage her to learn later in life...since, it's too late now. Posted by Picasa

New Developments

Banana is a perfect angel (this is not a new development). But, for those who don't know here are a few of her awesome accomplishments.
She is clapping so well. If she here's a song or someone singing she will start clapping right away. B-I-N-G-O is one of her favorite tunes. She also likes to watch her crazy Mom do the Hokey Pokey.
She can crawl very well, though she still drags her stomach and her soft little knees are just getting toughened up. She is very mobile. She talks a bunch. And it really feels like she is communicating with us. She has started eating the teething biscuits and she loves them. We call them cookies. They are the closest thing to sweets that she gets (besides fruit).
Banana is playing catch too! That's right folks. A nine month old who plays catch. We throw her the ball, she picks it up and throws it (sometimes she gets a bad bounce, but great effort), and then she claps for herself. It is adorable.
We are having so much fun with her and really looking forward to sharing her with even more family. I'll have Mike post another picture soon. Take care all!

Holiday Fever

I'd like to comment on the lack of excitement that is the Tucson holiday season. In other cities and states I think that the holiday fever begins to set in a little sooner. This has a lot to do with the change in weather that is subtle here, compared to most parts of the country. And, though I am glad to be spared three plus months of dreary and drab, I'll be so glad to visit Indianapolis in a couple of weeks.
Another very important thing that is really making most be glad this time of year is their ability to cheer on their professional home sports team. We don't have one. Though the Cardinals are technically the Arizona Cardinals, they are formally the Phoenix Cardinals and therefore shunned by the bitter locals who dare the owners to let one city support the team.
So, with that being said, GO COLTS! I can't wait to go to Indy and feel that Colts fever as I drive through downtown and as I watch the Seahawks game from the comfort of my parents Indianapolis living room. (Or maybe my uncle's?) Anyway, Hoosiers, enjoy your holiday fever. Hopefully it can keep you warm for a little while longer.
P.S. Shout out to the driver of the truck (Jerry?) that delivered to my work today. He showed up with a Colts hat on. Turns out he's from Connersville.
